Invention 2007 - iPhone

Time Inc. provided this photo of the cover of the Nov. 12, 2007 issue. The magazine has named the iPhone, invention of the year.
Excerpt from Time Magazine: "The thing is hard to type on. It's too slow. It's too big. It doesn't have instant messaging. It's too expensive."
Or, no, wait, it's too cheap!

The iPhone has sold enough units—more than 1.4 million at press time—that it'll be around for a while, and with all that room to develop and its infinitely updatable, all-software interface, the iPhone is built to evolve."
