Google's Spectrum-Saga

The title sums-up Google’s story on their secretive (they had to keep quiet until now because of FCC rules) C-Block bid which ended up in Verizon’s hands.

By their own admission, they were aware that the chances of them actually winning the bid were slim, but they had to push it to $4.6 billion, since it would “trigger the important “open applications” and “open handsets” conditions.”

The spectrum saga isn't over yet. FCC has yet to decide on the D-Block, which is supposedly to be used for public-safety networks. Furthermore, Google plans to “continue advocating for the FCC to open up the TV spectrum for mobile uses.”
